Everything you need to know about BASA this Fall….

The Fall semester is upon us, and that means BASA is back in full swing.  Check out the list of events and meetings for September and information about Fall elections below:

Election Dates

• September 13^th – 24^th: Nomination Period
• September 27^th – October 8^th : Campaign Period
• September 30^th – All Candidates Meeting
• October 11^th – 14^th – Voting Period

Stay tuned for another posting providing more specific information concerning the election process.

Events

Come visit us on campus as the follow events:

• September 7^th: Welcome Back BBQ on Abby Campus Green 10 am – 2 pm (awesome prizes up for grabs!)
• September 17^th : DisOrientation
• September  24^th: Business Student Social  on Abby Campus Green 12- 2 pm (come enjoy pizza  and pop on us!)

BCC Meeting – August 17, 2010

As we get closer to the fall semester, it looks like the BASA Constitution Commitee (BCC) will be meeting on a more regular basis in order to be ready for the new school year.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday August 17th, 2010 at 7:00 pm in room C1429.

BCC Meeting – August 10, 2010 (updated)

The next BASA Constitution Committee (BCC)  meeting is Tuesday August 10, 2010 @ 7:00 pm.  The meeting will take place im Room C1429.  All Business Students are welcomed (and encouraged) to attend!

The next meeting will be focusing on the BASA Finances as well as Election Campaign Policies.  The Agenda for the meeting is attached below.

BASA Brainstorming Meeting – July 20th 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm U-House

Hello Business Students,

You are invited to attend a BASA Brainstorming Event! What do you want from your Business Administration Student Association?  BASA is rolling out this Fall 2010 with a brand new look!  We want to hear from you!  BASA is holding a brainstorming event where all business students will be able to share their ideas.

The brainstorming meeting has been set for Tuesday July 20th, 2010 from 5 pm – 7 pm. Room is to be confirmed, but it will most likely take place in the U-House. As there will be some munchies provided, we’d request you RSVP to this event by e-mailing: rachel.kruger@ufv.ca.

Your opinion matters to us, and BASA will not be able to move forward unless we have a strong group of students who are wanting and working towards a change. We really hope to see you  ALL there!

BASA Constitution Committee (BCC) – Second Report

On July 6, 2010 the BCC met for the second time in C-building to continue the process of updating the Constitution. Here are a few highlights of the meeting:

1. Discussion of BASA brainstorming meeting
   • From the suggestion of Student Life Programer, Martin Kelly, it was deemed necessary that a brainstorming meeting be held to bring together the business sub-clubs (ASFV, HRSS, Finance, etc.) to align them with the new BASA as well as generate awareness with the business student body.
   • Date for brainstorming meeting was set for Tuesday July 20th, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the U-house on the Abbotsford Campus
   • All Business Students are welcomed and encouraged to attend.  More information will be posted on the BASA website shortly.
2. Draft of new BASA constitution
   • Focused on amendments to Elections section of the BASA constitution (voting quorum and election difficulties)

The next BCC Meeting is scheduled to for July 27, 2010 at C1429 at 7pm.  Everyone is welcome.

BASA Constitution Committee (BCC) – First Report – Updated

On June 19, 2010 the BCC met for the first time in C-building to jump-start the fundamental but neglected task of updating the Constitution. Here are a few highlights of the meeting:

1. Discussion of current BASA constitution
   • General consensus was that the current constitution was far to general and did not have enough detail
   • Was noted that current constitution was in conflict of itself, especially in the areas for defining the executive committee
   • Current constitution did not have section on elections at was decided that the focus area for this meeting should nominations and election procedure
2. Draft of new BASA constitution
   • Decided formulation after CUS (commerce undergraduate society) constitution of UBC would be a good starting point
   • Focused on amendments to Elections and Nominations section of BASA constitution
   • Discussed BASA structure and membership – no suggested amendments were presented

The next BCC Meeting is scheduled to for July 6, 2010 at C1429 at 7pm.
